Matt Tweardy holds a B.S. in Physics from American University and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, working on fission chain theory development for real-time estimation of the properties (e.g., mass, enrichment) of uranium assemblies from the images created by tagged neutron interrogation. In past work, he supported data analysis for the Department of Homeland Security’s Advanced Radiation Monitoring Device (ARMD) program as a member of the Nuclear Materials Detection and Characterization group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
