Kirsten Pena

Research Scientist

Biography

Kirsten Pena holds B.S., M.S, and Ph.D. degrees in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee.  Her PhD work was conducted in collaboration with ORNL on the topic of “Template-Based Imaging Analysis of Arbitrary Nuclear Material Configurations Using Time and Directionally-Tagged Fast Neutrons.”  She is now working part time as a Research Scientist on our DHS DNDO program called IDEAS for Rapid and Robust Clearing of Cargo from Shielded SNM.  She also works part time with the Nuclear Materials Detection and Characterization group at ORNL.
