Karen Koop Hogue

Biography

Karen's primary research interests relate to developing and improving verification technologies and approaches in support of advanced nuclear reactor safeguards. Karen currently works as an R&D Staff Engineer in the Verification Technologies group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Karen received her bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University, and her master's degree in nonproliferation and terrorism studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. She has previously served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy, and led and supported projects related to nonproliferation and international safeguards while working at Y-12 National Security Complex, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies. Karen is actively involved with the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management and currently serves as Deputy Director of the Education & Training Committee and is a member of the Technical Program Committee.
