Jake Carter

Biography

Jake Carter, M.S. Electrical Engineering, currently serves as research and development specialist for the Microelectronic Systems Research Group, Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  He is also program manager and electrical engineering consultant to the Nuclear Material Detection and Characterization Group.  Jake has contributed to a wide range of programs including nuclear detection research for the Department of Energy and United States Navy.  He developed next generation equipment and tactics to prevent unauthorized possession and use of nuclear and radiological materials within the United States. He has over 30 years experience in civilian and military research and development, including work at Bell Telephone, IBM, USAF and NASA.  Jake has directly contributed to development of land, sea, and air systems for detection of nuclear materials.  He is a retired Colonel, United States Air Force, with experience in the Titan, Poseidon, Trident and Air Launched Cruise Missile nuclear delivery systems.  He is currently a deputized federal law enforcement officer with the Transportation Security Administration.
